Colored cotton should be stored out of direct sunlight until spun. When it is in a skein, simmer it in water for 45 minutes. I
have found that using an aluminum pan darkens the cotton even more than a stainless steel pan but it could be the reaction with my well water. Hang the skein to dry with an
appropriate amount of weight, which will also set the twist.
